On a Saturday at the end of March, NEIDA were approached by Rolls Royce to manufacture a variety of stainless steel, aluminium and plastic turned components. After receiving the drawings the following day, it was decided that NEIDA’s Star Sliding Head machines would be perfect for the project.

NEIDA was then tasked with producing 12 components, a total of 90,000 parts, to be delivered in seven days but ended up manufacturing around 290,000 components as the project expanded to eight weeks long.

“The ventilator project gave us a renewed focus at a time when being at work was being questions due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was heartening that the entire workforce embraced the challenge, working extended hours and weekends to ensure we could satisfy the demand. We’re immensely proud of the achievement of our employees companywide in making this happen.“

David Brown, NEIDA Commercial Director
