David Brown reflects on his two year presidency of the BTMA, including industry engagement, skills development and charitable support, while continuing his international leadership as SID President and preparing for the 2027 SID Congress in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Kory has progressed from a Level 3 T Level in Engineering and industry placement at NEIDA to a Level 4 Quality Practitioner Apprenticeship. His placement introduced him to Quality, where he developed practical skills in measurement, inspection equipment and engineering drawings. Now part of the Quality team, Kory is building his technical knowledge, experience and confidence as he develops his engineering career.
NEIDA is strengthening its approach to sustainable precision engineering through environmental management, emissions reporting, and ongoing investment in efficient manufacturing. These initiatives support improved performance, greater transparency, and alignment with evolving sustainability requirements and net zero objectives across UK and international supply chains.
NEIDA has supported Mark in completing the S.A.L.T (Save a Life Today) Workshop, a knife crime awareness and emergency response training programme. The article also highlights the Daniel Baird Foundation, apprenticeships, STEM engagement and workplace wellbeing initiatives across UK engineering.
Tom Farmiloe has successfully completed his Quality Pathway Apprenticeship at NEIDA, building on his prior engineering education. The program blended practical experience with off-the-job training, enhancing his technical skills and confidence through learning modern quality control methods and developing professional relationships.
During this year’s SID International Congress in Chicago, it was announced that David Brown, the current BTMA President and Director at NEIDA, will serve as the President of the Syndicat International du Décolletage (SID) from 2025 to 2027.
