NEIDA’s Continued Support to Local Foodbank
NEIDA are proud to continue its business partnership with the local Foodbank.
NEIDA and its employees have participated in many projects and events throughout the years. From making donations to local charities to supporting our employees in their fundraising efforts, we are proud to support a number of local and national charities that are close to the hearts of our customers, associates and colleagues.
Covid-19 had a social and economic effect on our local community in 2020, and it continues to do so now. The pandemic has resulted in job losses, reduced hours, and benefit payment delays. As a result, thousands of individuals are unable to afford even the most basic necessities. The Stoke-On-Trent Foodbank and its network of church-based food distribution centres work hard to fulfil the needs of those who are in food poverty.
In 2021, Foodbank Stoke-on-Trent launched #21for2021, a campaign in which 21 local businesses pledged £1,000 each to ensure that people in need be supported throughout 2021 and beyond. Along with other local businesses, NEIDA is proud to have participated in the campaign. As well, NEIDA and employees donate food regularly to ensure the vital support to individuals in our local community in Stoke-on-Trent is continued.
We are also proud to be a Ucan Foodbank Business Friend by being recognised as a silver-level partner as a result of NEIDA and employees’ contributions, and we look forward to extending the charity partnership.
The Foodbank provides emergency food for those in crisis, working towards tackling food poverty and hunger in local communities and across the UK.
Food donations consist of non-perishable, in-date food from a range of places, such as schools, churches and businesses, to name but a few. The food is then sorted into emergency food parcels by volunteers to be given to individuals in crisis. In 2021/22, The Trussell Trust’s Foodbank Network provided 2,173,158 three-day emergency food supplies and support to UK people in crisis.
The Foodbank also offers additional support to help individuals break free from poverty so that they will not need to use foodbanks again in the future. Support could include debt advice and mental health support.
At NEIDA, we are involved with a number of local charities and support employees’ charitable efforts. It is important to us at NEIDA to support our local community in as many ways as possible through donations and volunteering.
NEIDA pledged to continue regular food donations to the Foodbank to ensure the increasing need for food and support can be provided to local individuals in the Stoke-on-Trent community. A food donation point will be held at NEIDA Head Office and Manufacturing in Trentham Lakes.
In 2022 so far, we have participated in Douglas Macmillan’s Golf Day by sponsoring a hole, which was a day enjoyed by all, raising vital funds for the hospice. NEIDA are proud to be recognised as a bronze-level partner with Dougie Mac. We are continuing our partnership by pledging to further support the hospice by joining the “Bag It Bring It” campaign, a donation point at all our Stoke-on-Trent locations for any unwanted items. We are looking forward to the annual Duck Race in July, where NEIDA’s duck will battle it out against other local businesses to be crowned the winner.
In March, NEIDA sponsored Commercial Assistant Jen McHugh’s 100-kilometre dog walking challenge for Dementia UK, which is close to the hearts of many at NEIDA, raising an impressive £300. Dementia UK is a specialist dementia nurse charity that provides support and develops life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.
